Reiki FAQs

Reiki is a form of mind-body medicine that helps balance your energy and support overall well-being. It’s a natural and gentle way to release emotional and physical energy blockages.

The word Reiki comes from Japanese:

  • Rei means "universal life"
  • Ki means "energy"

For a healthy state of being, your Ki should be vibrant, free flowing and abundant.

Reiki works by using both your body’s natural energy and universal energy to help boost your body’s ability to heal itself.

During a Reiki session, the heart of emotional or physical issues can be discovered, addressed, and gently treated. It can help reduce stress, ease pain, improve sleep, and create a sense of balance and well-being.

Reiki involves the simple, gentle placement of hands on or above particular parts of the body - including organs, glands and joints - to help energy flow smoothly throughout the body and facilitate relaxation and healing.

For thousands of years, people in the Far East have tuned to this energy to modify everything from behavior to serious physical illness and disease. It is highly compatible with traditional medicine, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, and psychotherapy.

Today, Reiki is practiced around the world in hospitals, hospices, private practices, and wellness centers. According to the American Hospital Association, it is now one of the top three complementary therapies used in U.S. hospitals.

A Reiki treatment feels like a glowing radiance flowing through and around you. It brings the body, mind, and spirit into alignment, creating a deep sense of peace, relaxation, balance, and overall well being.

During the session, you will stay fully clothed and lie comfortably on a table. Sloane uses light, non-invasive touch in very specific points on the body based on traditional Reiki practice.

Everyone's experiences are different. Some clients fall into a deep, sleep-like meditative state. For others, the first session may seem uneventful but leave them more relaxed or emotionally lighter. Most notice a release of stress and a deep feeling of peace right away.
